After 104 rounds, bidding ended in the FCC’s auction of mmWave spectrum yesterday. The total gross bids in Auction 103 surpassed $7.5 billion at $7,561,724,774.
Bidders are vying for licenses in the Upper 37 GHz, 39 GHz and 47 GHz bands.
They won 14,142 of 14,144, or more than 99.9 percent of available licenses, according to the agency.
Winners will now have the opportunity to bid for frequency-specific licenses in the assignment phase of the auction, according to an FCC spokesman. The Commission will soon release a notice with further details concerning the assignment phase, including the date and time when bidding will start.
