As the number of coronavirus cases rises, the FCC will no longer accept hand-delivered filings at its Washington, D.C. headquarters. This follows the agency’s previous decision to close all of its buildings to most visitors.
The Commission encourages outside parties to use the agency’s various electronic filing systems. Except when the filer requests that materials be withheld from public inspection, any document may be submitted electronically through the Electronic Comment Filing System, notes the FCC.
Confidential filings that must be submitted on paper can be sent by UPS, FedEx, Freight or any overnight mail service. They should be addressed to:
- Federal Communications Commission, 9050 Junction Drive, Annapolis, MD 20701
All USPS First Class Mail, Express Mail and Priority Mail should continue to be sent to:
- FCC headquarters, 445 12th Street, SW, Washington, D.C. 20554.
Anyone who can’t meet a filing deadline due to the closure may request a waiver.
