Bethalto Community Unit School District No. 8, Bethalto, IL has authorized Cell At Auction LLC to market a request for proposals (RFP) soliciting interest from firms looking to build a cell tower to accommodate up to six cellular carriers and municipal equipment at the Northwest corner of a district site adjacent to I-255. The announcement was put out this week, giving tower companies until September 18, 2020 to respond. A copy of the RFP can be found at www.cellatauction.com
According to Bud Blinick, President of Cell At Auction, “The school district and surrounding community has experienced growth yet lacks the necessary wireless and bandwidth coverage to satisfy the demand, resulting in an existing lack of adequate coverage within school district facilities and across the area.” Bethalto Community Unit School District No. 8 is a unified school district located in the Madison County village of Bethalto, Illinois and surrounding communities. The district is located just 30 minutes north of the St. Louis Metro Area along the heavily traveled I-255 corridor. The district is composed of five schools, of which all but one is located in the village of Bethalto.
Residents have recognized the need for improved coverage by all the carriers and whoever is chosen to build the tower has the backing of the school district and will be able to negotiate directly with the providers for their leases.
The cell tower will also provide a source of revenue for the district, as the selected firm will be required to provide an upfront payment and/or a percentage of the cellular carrier lease payments it generates annually, along with the easement or lease agreement reached between the parties. The revenue received by the school district will be used to update the district’s facilities. For more information please call Bud Blinick at 847-977-2314.
