The promise of 5G has become a reality for 100 towns in the United Kingdom, reports BestGamingPro.com. Connected locations include the capital cities of London, England; Belfast, Ireland; Cardiff, Wales; and Edinburgh, Scotland. Additional locations around Leeds and Slough in Berkshire, O2’s headquarters, are also 5G-enabled.
Telefonica UK Limited, or O2 U.K., is the second largest mobile network operator in the United Kingdom. Since 5G requires a proliferation of small cell units to operate at maximum efficiency, there are sections of the 5G service area that still rely heavily on 4G. 02 has expressed its eagerness to promote 5G and has said it wants to be ready when more consumers buy 5G phones and connect up.

According to O2, traffic increased by over 50 percent when the pandemic lockdown hit. The company has responded by continuing to expand its 4G outreach, and has now made a big leap into 5G technology.
