The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), yesterday announced the election of new leadership for its TR-14 Structural Standards for Communication and Small Wind Turbine Support Structures Engineering Committee.
- Bryan Lanier, Director of Customer Engineering at American Tower, will Chair the Committee. An engineering director with deep experience working in the telecommunications industry, Lanier was previously Secretary of TIA’s TR-14 committee beginning in 2012.
- David Hawkins, President of Paul J Ford & Company, will be Vice Chair. A professional engineer, Hawkins has been a participating member of the TIA TR-14 Committee since 1997. He has been a chair, task group leader, a member of several subcommittees and task groups of the ANSI/TIA-222-G and ANSI/TIA-222-H standards.
- Christopher Ply, Vice President of Engineered Tower Solutions, PLLC, was appointed secretary of the TR-14 Committee. Ply has a long record as a practicing structural and civil engineer in the telecommunications field and currently leads a team of engineers completing structural and civil projects.
“As the industry continues to employ new tools to meet the demands and opportunities of next-generation technologies, TIA’s standards are more important than ever before,” said TIA Vice President of Standards David Bain.
TIA’s TR-14 Structural Standards for Communication and Small Wind Turbine Support Structures Engineering Committee works to create best practices and update the ANSI/TIA-222 Standard, “Structural Standard for Antenna Supporting Structures, Antennas and Small Wind Turbine Support Structures” and the ANSI/TIA-322 Standard, “Loading, Analysis and Design Criteria Related to the Installation, Alteration and Maintenance of Communication Structures.” TIA seeks participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
