Equipment testing manufacturer Rohde & Schwarz announced the company is offering a free, six-part webinar series on the fundamentals of RF. The first course is entitled; Part 1: Introduction to RF, that will start with a refresh on the basics of RF and will work through transmission characteristics such as impedance. The course will then cover different types of RF components and their common measurements. Viewing is available on demand. Click to register.
Led by speaker Clark Conrad, Applications Engineer at Rohde & Schwarz, the subject matter will introduce some elementary concepts of electrical engineering such as Ohm’s Law, electrical power, Fourier representation of signals, and basic electromagnetic wave propagation.
Based in Chicago, Conrad has spent his career focusing on wireless communications customers. He has a BS Eng. Phys. from the University of Toledo and an MS Elect. Eng. from Northwestern University. After spending eight years as a hardware design engineer with Motorola, he moved to Rohde & Schwarz where he has been for 15 years, supporting a wide variety of equipment, applications, and customers.
Later sessions will discuss signal models, thermal noise, and phase noise and then move into the basics of digital modulation, including IQ representation and constellation diagrams. The webinars will also touch on measuring the quality of digitally modulated signals and a brief introduction to Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex communication systems.
