Trenton, NJ (January 24, 2020) – The New Jersey Wireless Association (NJWA) and New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC) held a joint press conference today at Trenton State House to address the on-going 911 fee diversion issue in New Jersey.
Speakers during today’s press conference included Marie Hayes, newly-appointed president of NJAC and Cape May County freeholder, John Donnadio, executive director of NJAC, Rob Ivanoff, president of NJWA, State Senator Michael Testa and Sheriff Shaun Golden of Monmouth County.
Members attending the press conference included representatives from the first responder community, the state legislature and local and county governments. Reporters from several news outlets, including NJTV and Communications Daily, were also in attendance.
New Jersey is the worst offender in the United States for diverting fees dedicated to restoring, maintaining and upgrading county and municipal 911 centers; fees paid for by New Jersey citizens. NJWA and NJAC continue working together to bring awareness to this issue and help bring about the necessary change in state legislation.
