To apply, candidates must adhere to the following guidelines:

To be eligible to receive the scholarship, the Award Recipient must:
- Be an active member of NJWA in good standing for over one year, or a child or grandchild of such NJWA member, or a principal or employee of a sponsor of NJWA, or an active member of SEEDS. Members of the NJWA Board of Trustees and their children are not eligible.
- Be a resident of New Jersey.
- Be actively enrolled in an institution of higher education.
- Complete the NJWA Scholarship requirements.
- Factors for consideration include scholastic achievements, extracurricular activities, demonstrated leadership capabilities, volunteerism/charity work, economic need, and relationship to NJWA.
- The amount of the scholarship is up to Five Thousand ($5,000.00) Dollars annually.
- The scholarship funds may be used only for approved school expenses (tuition, room and board).
- The scholarship may be extended for additional academic years depending on the Award Recipient’s academic performance. Recipients must apply each year and will be evaluated against all applicants.
- The scholarship award will be remitted directly to the Award Recipient’s institution of higher education.
- The Award Recipient must provide proof of current enrollment and sufficient documentation for NJWA to properly make payment of the award to the institution.
- The Award Recipient must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.3 to be eligible for a future award.
- The Award Recipient shall provide transcript information to NJWA to confirm GPA and active registration.
- The Award Recipient agrees to attend one meeting of the NJWA to receive the scholarship.
- The Award Recipient agrees to serve at an event of the NJWA.
Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:

- Be actively enrolled in an institution of higher education.
Note: Members or family members of the NJWA Board of Trustees are not eligible to apply.
The NJWA Charity and Scholarship Committee will evaluate applications based on:
- Academic achievements
- Extracurricular activities
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Volunteerism and charity work
- Relationship to NJWA
- Economic need
Up to five scholarships of up to $5,000 each will be awarded annually, depending on the availability of funds.

In Memory of Steve Weiss
Steve Weiss dedicated nearly two decades to the wireless industry, managing the TriState (New Jersey, PA, Delaware) Microcell and In-Building programs for Verizon Wireless. He had a rich background in real estate, including leasing, zoning, regulatory work, and the development of commercial projects. Before joining Verizon in 2004, Steve operated his own consulting business and began his career as a research scientist after earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology/Biochemistry. He later transitioned to real estate with an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business.
While he excelled in the dynamic world of wireless communications, Steve was most proud of his three children, Ryan, Lyndsay, and Zack. This scholarship serves as a tribute to his spirit, inspiring future leaders.
